OUR PROGRAMS

MORE THAN A PROGRAM. A PATHWAY.

PROGRAMS

Every Umoja program is built around the same three forces: Mass, the weight of shared community. Frequency, the emotional climate of a room. Energy, the drive that moves someone to act. Different ages, different settings, same physics of social work.

UMOJA WRITING WORKSHOPS (UWW)

Where voice becomes leadership.

Umoja Writing Workshops use poetry, spoken word, and creative expression to help students process real issues in their schools, families, and communities, and see themselves as leaders because of it, not despite it.

Programs include:

  • Creative writing Highschool Credit

  • Paid Performance Oppurtunity

  • Mental health and self-awareness

  • Leadership through voice

  • Unity across difference

MIDDLE SCHOOL LEADERSHIP EXPLORATION & MEN'S GROUP

Building identity and leadership before high school begins.

This program meets young men in the years that decide most of what comes after: mentorship, mutual accountability, and positive masculinity, built early enough to change the trajectory before high school does.

Programs include:

  • Mentorship and peer accountability

  • Identity development

  • Positive masculinity

  • Leadership foundations

Beyond Walls Umoja Writing Program

Unity doesn't stop at incarceration.

Beyond Walls brings Umoja's mentorship and writing model inside the juvenile justice system. It exists because we believe second chances become leadership roles, not because a kid is behind a wall, that unity has to reach them there too.

Programs include:

  • Mentorship for incarcerated and justice-involved youth

  • Literacy and self-expression

  • Reentry and transition support

  • Family reconnection

  • A path back to leadership, not just release
